It’s said that Brigadeiros have been named after a Brigadier General who was well-liked in Brazil during World War II. The reason they have been created is that chocolate was scarce during the warfare, but cocoa powder was readily available. Bolo de Rolo is a singular Brazilian cake manufactured from skinny layers of sweet, jelly-like guava paste rolled between layers of delicate sponge cake.
